DPS-MIS Appoints Senior School Leaders

There is a belief in DPS-Modern Indian School that every leader leaves a trail behind that inspires others to excel.


To felicitate the leaders of tomorrow, DPS-MIS held the Investiture Ceremony of the Senior School Prefectorial Council, for the year 2011-12 recently. 38 students were sworn in as appointees for the session 2011-2012. An invitation to the ceremony was extended through the DPS website and, as expected, enthusiastic parents, supportive friends and a lot of people showed up in the Pearl Hall, where the ceremony was being held. They made each and every child special with thunderous applause, clicking cameras and a good luck thumbs up.

The Chief Guest for the function was Ms. Buthaina Al Ansari, Founder and Chairperson of Qatariat Holding Company, Board Member of Qatari Business Women Forum. Among the other dignitaries present were Senior President of School Mr. Hassan Chougle, Senior Vice-President, Mr.Yasir Nainar, Acting Principal Ms. Asna Nafees, Headmistress Ms. Shibanti Bhowmik, school officials and students.

The evening began with the invoking of blessings of the Almighty. This was followed by the school choir performing the school song and a popular Hindi song. The choir was truly mesmerising and captivating.

President Mr. Hassan Chougle addressed the gathering. His talk boosted the morale of the appointees.

The students were then called upon stage to receive their badges. The students, although nervous walked confidently on stage and wore their best smiles. The oaths were administered by Acting Principal Ms. Asna Nafees and Headmistress Ms. Shibanti Bhowmik.

Chief Guest Ms. Buthaina Al Ansari addressed the gathering and expressed her joy on seeing young students take up the roles of leaders. The Chief Guest in her address stressed the importance of leadership. She added that it is a skill mastered through tireless practice. She wished the new Prefectorial body all success in their endeavour.

The newly appointed Head boy Abhipray Sahoo and Head Girl Shruti Srinivasan gave their maiden speeches which were followed by the vote of thanks proposed by Presidents of Activities Aamir Shams and Aafreen Rahman.

The evening ended on a very colourful note with a beautiful Indian-Arabian dance performed by the young dancers of class 8 and the singing of the national anthems of Qatar and India.
